The Ministry of Music is an integral part of our Spiritual Life at Christ Church. Listed below are a number of ways in which parishioners and others participate in the music ministry at Christ Church. We welcome new volunteers and new ideas to enrich the worship life of the parish. If you are interested in participating, please contact Jane Bowie, Organist/Music Director. Adult ChoirThe Adult Choir is open to anyone of high school age and above in the parish who has a desire to sing and enhance the beauty of our worship through the ministry of music. Previous musical training is not required and an audition is not necessary. The Choir's purpose is to provide leadership for the hymns, service music, and spoken responses of the service. In addition, the Choir makes an offering of one or more anthems each Sunday. Currently the Adult Choir sings every week at the 10:30 am Eucharist. The Choir also sings at various special services throughout the year, including Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, the services of Holy Week, and the Easter Vigil. The repertoire includes a wide variety of styles including Gospel and traditional classical works from the Renaissance to the present. The main rehearsal time for the Adult Choir is on Thursday evenings from 7:15 pm until 9:00 pm, in the choir loft. Anyone interested in joining the Adult Choir may speak to the Director, Jane Bowie, or simply join us for one of the scheduled rehearsals. Youth ChoirChildren in the second through fifth grades are invited to sing in the Youth Choir. On Sundays at the 10:30 am service, the Youth Choir sits in the choir loft and presents special musical offerings. The children rehearse on Sunday after the service. Sunday School MusicChrist Church has an active program of music as part of our Christian Education program. Led by Ann Barnes, the Sunday School music group leads the younger children in a variety of songs and music. The Sunday School group currently consists of singers, guitarists, and flutists, and other instrumentalists are always encouraged to participate. |
