EXPECTATIONS FOR YOUTH
The following expectations are for anyone wishing
to participate in the youth program.
Each person is expected to follow these guidelines at all meetings,
outings, retreats and events. In the
event that these expectations are not met, the person will be asked not to
participate with the group until there has been a meeting with the
parents/guardians, youth leaders and/or clergy.
It is our hope that these are common sense rules
that will help everyone have a safe and enjoyable time at youth meetings and
events. Our hope is never to have to
enforce consequences, but that our youth will instead “...Be an example to
others in their faith, love, conduct, and purity.” Timothy 4:12
It
is expected that...
1. Each person will treat those around them
with respect and love. No negative humor
will be tolerated among us (NO PUT-DOWNS!); no coarse
joking or foul language.
2. Each person will treat our facilities and
property with equal or better care than they give their own belongings (no ball
playing, running or jumping inside any building not designated for those
activities).
3. Each person will have an attitude of
respect and reverence during worship and designated times of quiet. Disruptive behavior during such times is
not acceptable. This includes
observing noise limits after youth meetings outside or away from the Church.
4. Each person will clean up after
themselves so as not to make more work for others coming after them.
5. Upon arrival at any youth meeting or
event, each person will report to the leader and remain under the leader’s
supervision unless the leader dictates otherwise. When you come to a meeting or event, you stay
for the entire designated time unless your parent/guardian and the leader give
you permission to leave.
6. Each person will refrain from using
alcohol, tobacco (smokeless or otherwise), drugs or inhalants. If there is a need for prescription drugs,
you are asked to bring a note from your parent/guardian. Fireworks, lighters, matches or weapons of
any kind will not be brought to any youth meeting or event.
7.
Each person will honor all off-limit
areas and all buildings and grounds not in use by the group. This includes the telephone.
8. No one will yell, fight, throw objects,
or push or attempt to injure others.
These behaviors will not be tolerated.
9. Each person will leave radios,
headphones, electronic toys or games and other valuables at home unless you
receive specific permission from the leader to bring them to a meeting or
event.
1. If an adult has to speak to a youth more
than once with regard to an unacceptable behavior, a period of time out will be
agreed on.
2. If unacceptable behavior continues
parents/guardians will be notified and asked to take their youth home
immediately.
3. If disruptive behavior continues in
future meetings or events, parents, youth, leaders and clergy will meet.
